LT Holding formed a joint a joint-venture with Helios Energy Investments to complete the acquisition of a 2MWp portfolio of biogas power plants located in Central Italy from ContourGlobal. This acquisition brings the portfolio of biogas plants in Europe controlled by Helios to more than 50MWp, being one of the leading biogas investors in the market.
The assets are located in Lazio and have been operating since 2012. Symbiosis, an LT Holding group company, formerly known as Samso LT, has been operating the plants since 2019. Thanks to a mixed diet based on primary and secondary biomass products, the plants efficiently generate electricity from the biogas produced and enjoy access to the incentives granted by the GSE. The plants contribute to grid stability, while producing renewable energy, by injecting electricity to the grid with a capacity factor higher than 95%. The assets have a secured project finance facility from Banca Intesa SanPaolo as a single lender.
Symbiosis, acted as technical adviser and will provide full-service O&M and agricultural Asset Management services, while ICFC will provide technical and administrative Asset Management services. Symbiosis will now focus on strengthening its application of advanced precision agricultural to guarantee the biomass supply and operate the plants at maximum efficiency and to perform all the upgrade works required to minimize over consumption of biomass and high power self-consumption currently experienced by the plants.
Helios and Symbiosis will jointly assess the opportunity to convert the plants into biomethane to extend plants’ life and continue contributing to the circular economy.
